Autumn leaves us buying
If you've been toying with the idea of buying abroad, then you're more likely to do it now than at any other time of the year.
According to foreign exchange company Moneycorp, it's not the dead of winter when we're most likely to buy somewhere in the sun, but in the autumn when holiday destinations are fresh in the mind, the evenings are getting shorter and there's six months to go before spring.
Moneycorp's research indicates that autumn property purchases shoot up by as much as 26 per cent, which this year would push British home ownership abroad to record levels. The company's Nick Bull says, "While Spain and France remain the top two choices, last autumn we saw the greatest increase in countries further afield, including USA, Thailand and Bulgaria."
Goan, spoil yourself
For those who want somewhere with guaranteed warmth in our winter months, Goa's long golden beaches and turquoise sea will be tempting.
If you can overlook the long-haul flights and like a little luxury with your sun and sand, the five-star resort of Peace Valley at Sirvoi offers second homes with the opportunity to rent out for the rest of the year.
There's a wide choice of options for investors, with apartments starting from as low as £19,000. Choose from studios to multiple-bedroom villas, with verandahs and balconies, in lush tropical surroundings.
